Why I’m Using Injectable Glutathione in My Hashimoto’s Healing Journey

Injectables with Hashimotos Disease

If you’ve been in the autoimmune or functional medicine space for any amount of time, you’ve probably heard of glutathione.

It’s one of the most powerful antioxidants in your body - often called the “master antioxidant”  - and for good reason.

But what you may not know is this:
For women with Hashimoto’s or chronic inflammation, glutathione isn’t just helpful.
It can be a game-changer.

And in this post, I want to break down:

  • What glutathione actually does in the body

  • Why injectable glutathione is different (and better) than oral forms

  • How it’s supporting my thyroid, immune system, and inflammation levels

  • Whether it might be right for you, too

What Is Glutathione (And Why Does It Matter for Hashimoto’s)?

Glutathione is a naturally occurring antioxidant made in the liver that supports detoxification, cellular repair, immune regulation, and inflammation control.

 In simpler terms?

It’s like the body’s clean-up crew - neutralizing toxins, calming immune flares, and helping every cell in your body function more efficiently.

🧬 For those of us with Hashimoto’s, that’s huge. Because:

  • Autoimmunity creates chronic inflammation

  • Inflammation increases oxidative stress (aka cellular damage)

  • Low glutathione = higher inflammation, slower detox, and more symptoms

  • That’s why you’ll often see glutathione mentioned in Hashimoto’s protocols.

But not all glutathione is created equal…

Why Injectable Glutathione Is Different (and Better)

Most of the glutathione supplements on the market are oral (like the ones I've been using), and here’s the problem:
Glutathione is fragile - meaning your digestive system breaks it down before it ever reaches your cells.

That’s where injectable (or IV) glutathione comes in.

It bypasses the gut, goes straight into the bloodstream, and is delivered directly to your cells - where it can actually do its job.

What I’ve personally noticed with injections:

  • More mental clarity

  • Decreased bloating

  • More stable energy

  • Faster recovery after workouts

  • Calmer inflammation after flares

It’s not a magic cure - but it’s absolutely one of the tools I’ve added in after healing the foundational pieces like gut health and blood sugar.

Why I Recommend It for Hashimoto’s Clients (At the Right Phase)

I don’t recommend glutathione as a “first step” protocol.
But if you’ve already started supporting your gut, detox pathways, and basic inflammation triggers, injectable glutathione can take your healing deeper.

Here’s where it works best:
✅ You’ve done foundational gut healing
✅ You’re dealing with flares, fatigue, or skin issues
✅ You’re looking to support your liver, detox, or histamine pathways
✅ You want to support your immune system naturally

For my clients, I walk them through when glutathione makes sense - and how to time it with their protocols.

Final Thoughts: Glutathione Is a Tool, Not a Shortcut

Injectable glutathione has been a powerful part of my healing strategy (especially as I age) - especially in this metabolism-healing phase where I’m focused on inflammation control, detox, and recovery.

But like anything, it works best when it’s part of a bigger, personalized healing plan.
