How I Use Red Light Therapy to Reduce Hashimotos Inflammation, Support My Thyroid, & Aid In Gut Health
If you’ve spent any time in the wellness world lately, you’ve probably seen people raving about red light therapy — and for good reason. As someone living with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Hypothryoidism, I’m always looking for safe, natural, and effective tools to help manage symptoms and support my body’s healing.
Today, I’m breaking down exactly how I use red light therapy at home, why it’s become a staple in my thyroid and gut health routine, and how you can try it too.
What is Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light (typically between 600–850 nanometers) to penetrate the skin and stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and support overall health. It’s been shown to improve thyroid function, gut health, skin health, muscle recovery, and even mood.
And the best part? You can easily use it at home, which makes it perfect for those of us managing chronic conditions like Hashimoto’s.
How Red Light Therapy Helps Thyroid & Gut Health
Here’s why it works for me:
✔️ Supports Thyroid Function:
Red light therapy has been shown to reduce thyroid antibodies and improve TSH levels in some studies. It helps increase circulation to the thyroid area and may support cellular regeneration.
✔️ Reduces Inflammation:
Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune disease, and inflammation is at the root of many symptoms. Red light therapy naturally calms inflammation in the body, especially in the neck and gut area.
✔️ Promotes Gut Healing:
So much of our immune system lives in the gut. Red light therapy can support gut lining integrity, reduce bloating, and ease discomfort when used regularly over the abdomen.
✔️ Boosts Energy & Mood:
If you’re dealing with thyroid fatigue, this is a game-changer. Light therapy can increase ATP (your cellular energy) and lift your mood, especially during darker months.
My Daily Red Light Therapy Routine
I use this Red Light Panel every morning and evening for 10 minutes per session.
Here’s my routine:
Stand or sit about 6–12 inches from the panel
Focus on my neck/thyroid area for 5 minutes
Move the panel to my abdomen for 5 minutes
Deep breathe while listening to music or a podcast
I’ve noticed better sleep, more stable energy, improved digestion, and a noticeable drop in bloating since adding this to my routine.
The Red Light Panel I Use
After a ton of research, I landed on this Red Light Panel because:
✔️ High-quality LEDs at therapeutic wavelengths
✔️ Affordable for at-home use
✔️ Compact size for easy storage
✔️ Solid reviews from other thyroid warriors
I’ve also used a standalone RLT face mask (that I love) and a RLT belt targeted for gut inflammation after times of flares.
Should You Try It?
If you’re managing Hashimoto’s, sluggish thyroid, gut issues, or chronic inflammation, red light therapy is worth looking into. It’s non-invasive, easy to use at home, and can support other healing strategies you have in place.
As always, talk to your provider before starting new therapies.
