How to Prioritize Healing with Hashimoto’s in the Summer (Without Losing Your Mind)

Let’s be real — summer’s supposed to feel easy, right?
Vacations. BBQs. Late nights with the kids. Pool snacks. Road trips. A season built on spontaneity.

But if you’re healing from Hashimoto’s (or trying to), summer can feel like a total minefield.

👉 Travel throws off your meal prep
👉 BBQs = mystery ingredients and last-minute decisions
👉 Kids home = zero structure
👉 And honestly… it’s exhausting just trying to stay on track

So let’s talk about how to make healing doable in a season of chaos. Because you don’t have to pause your progress — you just need a plan.

📌 1️⃣ Acknowledge that perfection isn’t the goal.

One of the biggest mindset mistakes I see women make in the summer is believing if they can’t be 100% on protocol, it’s not worth trying.
False.

The goal isn’t perfection - it’s inflammation management.
Every time you choose a gut-friendly, anti-inflammatory option, you’re helping your body heal. Even if your day isn’t flawless.

So release the all-or-nothing thinking.

📌 2️⃣ Prioritize gut + inflammation support, not diet restrictions.

This is huge.
Summer makes strict elimination diets tough. So shift your focus to adding the things that support your healing:

✅ Hydration (real water, mineral-rich if possible)
✅ Gut-healing supplements you can travel with (hello, Bioptimizers and Triquetra! I live for the digestive enzymes (bioptimizers or triquetra) and triple biotics (bioptimizers or triquetra))!
✅ Anti-inflammatory meals you actually enjoy (I keep a go-to travel meal list on my phone)
✅ Sleep support — even if it’s a 30-min power nap in the afternoon

If you can control these, you’re winning.

📌 3️⃣ Have a “bare minimum” plan for vacations.

Instead of abandoning your habits on trips, set a bare minimum protocol:

  • Bring your must-have supplements

  • Prioritize gut-friendly breakfasts (you can usually control this)

  • Hydrate before anything else

  • Get outside for 10 minutes of sun and movement

  • Plan 1 meal a day you feel great about

This keeps you anchored without overcomplicating your vacation.

📌 4️⃣ Use this season to build habits you’ll actually keep.

The slower, less structured pace of summer is actually a great time to practice sustainable healing habits.
This isn’t about surviving on grilled chicken and kale - it’s about learning to make smart, supportive choices in imperfect situations.

👉 How to manage a flare while traveling
👉 How to keep your gut happy when the kids’ snack game is out of control

Summer is real life. If you can heal here, you can heal anywhere.

📌 5️⃣ Remember - inflammation doesn’t take a summer break.

I say this with love:
Your immune system doesn’t care if it’s Saturday or summer vacation.

If you ghost your healing protocols for 3 months, you’ll feel it.
The flares, the fatigue, the weight gain — it won’t wait until fall.

And you deserve better than that.
